A cash-in-transit heist occurred on the R24 east near the Barbara Road off-ramp Gauteng South Africa 1st April 2017 midday . It is believed explosives were used in the robbery. Werner Vermaak of ER24 said three people were assessed.“Paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene where they found a security van that was blown apart. Two security guards were found on the scene. Both were assessed by the paramedics and found with no physical injuries.
A secondary incident occurred when flying debris landed on a vehicle during the explosion. The driver of the vehicle was assessed and later transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
Police were in attendance on scene and will investigate.
