Oldham mining caplamps have been leaders in underground personal lighting since the very beginning of industrialised mining. Combined with the micro-processor chargers, Oldham lamps represent the ultimate in high-performance personal lighting, combined with the lowest total cost of ownership available in a miner’s caplamp today.
Denchi Power acquired the Oldham business in 2016, seeing a direct match between Oldham’s “No Compromise” approach and its own commitment to Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork and Ownership in producing robust energy storage & power management products for “mission critical” applications.
As an industry leader, Oldham was quick to replace the traditional lead-acid batteries and halogen incandescent bulbs with lithium-ion power packs and LED technologies when they became available. The Oldham range features the choice of two battery packs, suitable for 10+ hours operation and 14+ hours continuous illumination, with an operational longevity in excess of 1200 cycles (typically <4 years) in every day use. In a similar manner, the main LED is rated to last more than 50,000 hours burn time, and renders the lamp virtually maintenance-free. Differing from many manufacturers though, the Oldham lamps can be dismantled and are fully repairable, which maintains the value of the asset when other caplamps have to be thrown away after accidental damage.
Product longevity raises an important environmental point for consideration in selecting partners and suppliers; a product that lasts two or three times longer than its rivals will also be creating two or three times less waste for recycling or landfill (as well as causing reductions in other factors such as carbon footprint from fewer shipments, and lower administration costs for purchasing and warehouse teams).
Sold through a worldwide network of established and fully supported agents and distributors, Oldham has sold more lamps, to more mines, in more countries than any other safety lamp manufacturer.
Many of the lamp variations are also supplied (with special adaptation) for military use, and as such, many of the Oldham products carry NATO stock numbers (NSNs). Oldham also manufacture specialised emergency damage control flood-lanterns, currently in use with Navies around the globe.
The full range of Oldham lamps are ruggedised to suit the harsh environment of the mining industry, and built to designs that meet ATEX and IEC Ex requirements to a philosophy that serves all factors critical to the mining industry:.
No compromise on safety; Oldham lamps provide total safety – all products are manufactured to designs that meet IEC Ex and ATEX standards.
No compromise on performance; Oldham lamps exceed daily requirements for full illumination throughout the day’s working operations, enabling maximum user performance.
No compromise on reliability; working with quality components and continuous test and inspection throughout manufacture, Oldham lamps provide the operator full confidence to work without interruption.
No compromise – Oldham Lamps combine safety, longevity, performance and reliability for the user, for a positive impact on daily, monthly and yearly operations.
