Maintaining air quality in agricultural environments is a growing challenge, particularly in greenhouses, food storage facilities, and transport systems. Traditional methods, such as chemical fungicides and ethylene absorbers, provide only temporary relief, often requiring frequent replenishment and leading to increased operational costs. In response to these challenges, NanoSci has developed Jupitair, an advanced photocatalytic air purification system that offers a filter-free, energy-efficient, and maintenance-free solution for controlling airborne contaminants in agricultural and food production settings. Jupitair is based on semiconductor photocatalysis, a technology that neutralizes harmful airborne pollutants rather than merely capturing them. Unlike standard air f iltration systems, which require frequent replacements and maintenance, Jupitair actively destroys mold spores, bacteria, ethylene, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in real time.

The system uses porous ceramic nanolayers, activated by UV LEDs, to trigger a continuous oxidative reaction that decomposes harmful substances into harmless by-products, such as carbon dioxide and water. This allows for high-efficiency air purification that can be safely used around plants, people, and stored food. One of the most critical challenges in agriculture is airborne fungal spores, which cause severe damage to crops, especially in greenhouses and vertical farms. The high humidity and warm conditions in these environments create the perfect breeding ground for fungi like gray mold and powdery mildew, leading to widespread infections and financial losses. While traditional fungicides help manage outbreaks, they do not prevent contamination.

Jupitair removes fungal spores from the air before they can settle on plants, ensuring that outbreaks are minimized and crops remain healthy. Another significant issue is ethylene gas, a natural plant hormone that accelerates ripening. While ethylene is essential in certain processes, its excess can lead to premature aging and spoilage of fruits, vegetables, and flowers. This is particularly problematic in cold storage and transportation, where keeping produce fresh for extended periods is crucial. Jupitair neutralizes ethylene in the air, effectively slowing down the ripening process without the need for chemical treatments. This extends the shelf life of perishable goods, reduces food waste, and enhances supply chain efficiency.

Beyond agriculture, Jupitair offers significant benefits for food storage, processing, and refrigerated transport. It continuously purifies the air in enclosed spaces, reducing contamination risks and ensuring a cleaner environment for produce, meat, and dairy products. Additionally, the system is designed for energy efficiency, consuming just 120W per 150m³, making it far more sustainable than traditional HEPA filters or UV-C lamps, which require frequent maintenance and higher energy input. Since Jupitair operates without disposable filters, it significantly lowers operational costs while reducing waste and environmental impact.

Key Benefits of Jupitair for Agriculture and Food Storage

✔ Prevents fungal infections and mold growth by removing airborne spores.

✔ Slows down ripening and spoilage by neutralizing ethylene, extending the freshness of fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

✔ Reduces reliance on chemical treatments, making it ideal for organic farming and food safety compliance.

✔ Minimizes food waste and loss during storage and transport, improving logistics efficiency.

✔ Consumes minimal energy (120W per 150m³), making it a cost-effective and sustainable solution.

✔ 100% safe for continuous use with no ozone emissions or harmful by-products.

Jupitair is designed to be a plug-and-play solution, easily integrated into greenhouses, vertical farms, food storage units, and transportation systems. Unlike ozone generators or chemical purifiers, which can produce harmful residues, Jupitair is completely safe for people, plants, and stored goods.
